There is an email floating
about in cyberspace. How
true it is I cannot say. It
allegedly comes from a
Captain Jeffrey S. Porter
of TaskForce Wasatch,
stationed in Afghanistan.
His account of Obama's
visit is interesting, given
the reports from the Main
Stream Media. According
to Capt. Porter, upon arrival,
Obama was quickly scur-
ried into a bullet-proof vehi-
cle. His first stop was to
meet a two-star general.
Troops had lined the en-
trance to the conference
tent. Obama did not stop
to shake any hands or
greet anyone. He just
strolled past the troops in-
to the tent. After a short
visit, he then went to a
larger tent, known as the
"Clam Shell", which has
a basketball court and
weight-lifting equipment.
This is where he had the
publicity photos taken
which were shown earlier
in the week. Again, he
did not interact with any
of the troops who were
waiting outside the Clam
Shell.
One hour after landing,
Obama was back onboard
his plane and flying off to
his next destination. Capt.
Porter does not know of a
single soldier Obama had
thanked for their service.
He seems pretty miffed
that Obama used them as
a publicity prop.
While in Germany, Obama
had cancelled plans to visit
with U.S. troops there, after
the Pentagon informed his
staff that no media would be
allowed to follow him on the
base. Apparently, someone
there wised up and did not
want a repeat of cheap cam-
paign tricks like Obama
used is Afghanistan. He had
already pulled a good trick in
Berlin, holding his speech
at the same location where
two rock bands were giving
free concerts, thus having a
ready-made crowd. And
his pals in the MSM were
hyping and cheering all the
way.
Meanwhile, John McCain is
actually having a decent
week. He started FINALLY
taking up the fight, and he
met the Dahli Lama, too.
But the best news for him
is a series of new polls that
show the race tightening,
especially in key battle-
ground states. Despite
the best efforts of the MSM
to ignore and belittle McCain,
he's still has a pretty fair
chance of winning.
